Deanna’s Story

i my name is Deanna.  I am 37 years old and live in Port Kennedy, Western Australia. At the time of writing this (Jan 2012) I am the happiest and healthiest I have been in a long time and its thanks to Dr. Gordon Padovan and his team at Emerge Surgical (formerly known as Perth Bariatric Centre).

My starting weight was 114kg and I’m now 76.5kg and had my surgery in August 2010. You name it and I’m sure I have tried it from pills to patches to shakes or inhalers. Prior to my surgery I would struggle to get off the couch without limping as my hips would ache. My blood pressure was high and I was a strong candidate for diabetes, which worried me as it is in my family.

A friend of mine had the Sleeve Gastrectomy and allowed me to ask a few questions. I then looked into both procedures, even watching the Sleeve Gastrectomy video online and knew that that was the one I wanted.

I have never looked back nor have I regretted it one bit. I have got so much more confidence in myself and started to enjoy going out more (especially dancing!!), even bought my first little black dress the other day! I have also joined a gym and even look forward to going to all of the classes!

Before surgery I was limited to what shops I could buy clothes from, now I walk into all the shops and still have to pinch myself when I see my reflection in the mirror.

With the Sleeve Gastrectomy, I would have to say that there is nothing I cannot eat, it is just in smaller amounts and wouldn’t change anything.

I chose to be open and honest with what procedure I had done, and with doing so I have helped other friends decide on bettering their lives.

If you feel you have tried everything under the sun but with no permanent results, I recommend talking to Dr. Gordon Padovan or even going to one of his seminars.
