Summer Prep with Emerge Surgical

Can you believe that summer is almost upon us again, already? We can’t wait to say goodbye to this dreary winter and welcome some warm sunny days, outdoor parties and beach trips.

As with every change of season — though especially in summer — our bodies adapt and our lifestyles change. We’ve compiled a list of some things you can do to prepare for this process, and ensure you get the most out of your summer experience.

Prepare your skin

Looking after your skin more important than ever in summer. The UV rays are out in full force, the aircon is blasting and we’re frequently working up a sweat. A good skincare routine is essential and will keep your skin looking fresh and youthful. We recommend Lira Clinical, where nature meets science.

Their BB Crème with SPF 30 is a daily essential, giving you natural, flawless coverage and sun protection. The Pro Retinol Crème is perfect to apply in the evening to rejuvenate your skin. Cold air from a fan or aircon can dehydrate your skin, leaving it looking dull, aged and flaky. Apply this, and watch your skin become more hydrated, smoother, brighter, and younger looking.

We stock Lira Clinical at our Mandurah clinic, so just give us a call on (08) 9544 5200 to see what we have in stock!

Discover confidence

Summer is the time of the year that people start talking about preparing their ‘beach body’. At Emerge, we don’t believe there’s any ‘perfect’ or ‘better’ version of this. We preach embracing your body, no matter the shape or size.

However, it can be harder for some than others, to have the confidence to do this. It can be especially difficult if you’ve reached a weight you’re happy with, but are experiencing some excess skin and fat around your tummy. For these clients, we love recommending an abdominoplasty.

Consume plenty of water

Keeping hydrated is always important, but especially so during summer. In the hotter temperatures we sweat more and consequently lose more fluids.

Staying hydrated after weight loss surgery can be challenging for many patients — your fluid capacity is limited so you may find yourself not drinking enough water. Ways to combat this include keeping a water bottle on you at all times or using a smartphone app to remind you to sip.

Consuming plenty of water will keep your body hydrated, your organs healthy and your skin looking fresh. It will also help you metabolise fat and reduce fat deposits. You can consume water through drinking, but also through foods with a high water volume, including strawberries, cucumber, celery and melons.

If you’re concerned about your water intake, don’t hesitate to get in touch with Dr Padovan. Deb and the team at Indi Dietitians can also help ensure you’re eating and drinking the right things. Check out this blog to learn more tips about staying hydrated.
