Qualifications

Understanding the qualifications of each surgeon is crucial and will assist you in making an informed decision.

For example, Dr Padovan is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS). The distinction is only awarded to specialist surgeons who have completed a minimum of 12 years medical and surgical education, including at least 5 years of specialist postgraduate training. 

A highly qualified surgeon should also be a professional member of relevant medical societies, which have strict entry criteria. To name just a few, Dr Padovan is a member of:

• Obesity Surgery Society of Australia and New Zealand (OSSANZ)
• American Society for Bariatric Surgery (ASBS)
• Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES)
