Anna’s Story

Being aware of my size I was scared of becoming diabetic. I have always been overweight, but at the age of 40 I decided enough was enough. I started walking then after 12 months decided to take myself to weight watchers for inspiration and help.

I went from 134kg to 112kg. I was very happy with these results but felt I needed something more to get below triple digits. I signed up to my local gym for 12 months helping a little more but still fluctuating between 105-112kgs, I had started to doubt myself by this time. I needed something more again.

So In January 2007 I joined the Sure Slip programme, I found that it was really hard to keep on track. They had a machine that look promising I would stand or sit and on and do various exercised on a vibrating platform. Though it looked promising I only went down to 101kgs.

Scared of losing all my results and hard work, I felt I needed more help to finally break below the triple digits.

I found another gym with programme that offered a Cross Trainer course with specific food and gym workouts to help raise metabolism while toning up. I felt so much better, was exercising and eating so much better, but again the weight would just not budge.

Going to my doctor for help I attended a free seminar on gastric banding, I looked into it, as I was eating healthy and exercising I felt this was a viable option. I thought I would finally reach a healthy weight range by losing that 35kg I needed to get there.

January 2008 I had lap band surgery, with all my exercise and healthy eating I finally broke the 100kg barrier I had been struggling to pass for the last 2 years. I went from 101kgs to 66kg in 12 months. I could not have done this without the combined help of exercise, good healthy food and great mental support from Gordon and his staff. I am wearing size 10-12 I feel I have succeeded better than I could have ever dreamed.

Lap Band is not an easy way out by an means, it’s just a tool to aid weight loss but I believe that combined with the right attitude to exercise and healthy eating we all can lose weight and keep it off.
